ActionScript Takes Lead Over ColdFusion…

by Kyle Hayes on August 6th, 2007

… that is in the world of Google searches. Take a look at the following chart:
Google Trends: ColdFusion vs. ActionScript

I find it very interesting that the two languages literally crossed paths. Seems to be around the time that Flex became more popular.

Any comments on this? I am just curious to some general thoughts and musings.

  1. Nice spike for CF7 — hopefully CF8 will do the same thing.

One market analysis I read not too long ago compared the top book rank on amazon of different programming languages. Interestingly enough, Actionscript was #1 of all the languages studied on there. I think CF was around 13 or so, which was impressive enough.

  2. Indeed, I am aware of the analysis. That is what the Amazon Rank Widget at the bottom of the page is based on. It shows the Flex/Actionscript books in order for their current sales rank on Amazon.com.

It can be modified to display any list of books though.
